DID YOU KNOW… In accordance with LAW 2101 OF 2021, starting on July 15, 2024, the working week will experience a further reduction of one hour, bringing it down to 46 hours. This process will be repeated in 2025 and 2026, with a two-hour reduction each year until the established goal is reached.

DID YOU KNOW… Another change included in the legislation reducing the working week is the elimination of certain benefits that employees used to enjoy. Starting in 2026, employers will no longer be required to provide employees with a paid day off for Family Day, a benefit that had been granted every six months since 2017. However, employers will not be obligated to implement recreational, cultural, sporting, or training activities as part of mandatory work programs.

WE INFORM YOU THAT… The law modified Article 161 of the Substantive Labor Code and establishes a maximum ordinary work week of 42 hours. Currently, the law refers to a 48-hour work week.

DID YOU KNOW… Employers must calculate the new hourly wage to account for overtime and additional pay for night shifts, Sundays, and public holidays, always respecting the principle of favorability.
